Workshop on Heritage Values and Law Enforcement at Sambor Prei Kuk site was successfully held for 4 days from 19 to 22 June 2022 at Kampong Thom Royal Hotel, opening Presided over by HE Prak Sonnara, Secretary of State, Representative of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and HE Touch Sokha, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Province; and closing represented by HE Som Sokun, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Culture and Fine Arts: HE Touch Sokha, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Province; and Michael Greenwald, Public Affairs Coordinator, US Embassy. The workshop was attended by 55 participants from Sambor Prei Kuk, Banteay Chhmar, Angkor, Preah Vihear and Wat Svay Andet in Kandal province, villagers living in/around Sambor Prei Kuk site as well as professional officers from 20 provincial departments of Culture and Fine Arts, to better understand and value cultural and natural heritage. This workshop is part of the Site Sacurity Education Program, which is funded by the cultural property agrement implementation grant (CPAIG) US Deparment of State.

Cultural Affairs Officer of the US Embassy in Cambodia Visits Sambor Prei Kuk Temple

On Monday, March 21, 2022, Ms. AMPARO GARCIA, Cultural Affairs Officer, accompanied by the organizing officer, organized the event. The Program Management Specialist of the US Embassy in Cambodia visited the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple site and was greeted by a number of UNDP leaders and relevant officials. The Program Management Specialist of the US Embassy in Cambodia visited the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site and was greeted by a number of UNDP leaders and relevant officials. The purpose of this visit is to learn about the management, conservation and restoration of temples that have been carried out by the National Authority for Sambor Prei Kuk, as well as the tourism sector in the Sambor Prei Kuk temple site area.    

ICC-Angkor / Sambho Prey Kuk Adhoc Expert Team Inspects Major Repair Works at Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site:

On Monday, March 21, 2022, ICC-Angkor / Sambor Prei Kuk, a group of Adhoc experts visited / inspected restauration and conservation work at a number of repair sites in the Sambor Prei Kuk temple site, with the participation of several ICC-Angkor / Sambor Prei Kuk experts, accompanied by the leadership and other relevant professional officers of the NASPK. The sites that Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority is carrying out some restaurations that experts have inspected include the tower (C1) in the Lion Temple group, the Srong Preah temple (N22) and the Sambor (N1). The other four restoration and conservation sites recommended by experts, including the Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority, will soon be implemented: the tower restauration and conservation site (S2) and the central tower conservation site (S1). Yeay Poan Temple, Prang (Z1) and Prang (Z3) Emergency Site, Trapeang Ropak Temple Group. This review and exchange of ideas is for experts to provide recommendations that are correct or points that need to be improved in order to make those jobs work better.      

The Sen Krong Pali opens excavation site for Khnach Toul Site

National Authority for Sambor Prei Kuk held a ceremony to open the excavation site of Prasat Khnach Toul On the afternoon of Monday, March 14, 2022, NASPK held a groundbreaking ceremony for the excavation site of the Khnach Toul temple site located in the city wall under the presidency. His Excellency Phann Nady, Director General of NASPK, and many other civil servants of NASPK. The project will be implemented by the Department of Archeology and Conservation. In 2022, the Department of Archeology and Conservation has been continuing: 1-Renovation of the central tower of Lion Temple (C1), Phase 2 2- Renovation of Yeay Poan Temple (S1) Phase 2 3-Repairing the inner gate of the southern part of Yeay Poan Temple Group (S4) 4- Repaired by towers Z1 and Z3, Trapeang Ropak temple group.  

The National Authority for Sambor Prei Kuk organized the second meeting of the Board of Directors of Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority for the second mandate in 2022

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Sambo Prei Kuk National Authority held its second meeting of the Board of Directors of Sambo Prei Kuk National Authority for the second mandate at 8:30 am. Preah Vihear Room, Office of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, under the high presidency of Lok Chumteav, Dr. Pheung Sakona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority. Today's meeting focused on the main points such as the report on the implementation of the recommendations of the Board of Directors of the second mandate, the first work activities in 2021, the work activities in 2022, the action plan for implementation in 2023 and other issues.              

Training Program "Cultural Heritage of Sambor Prei Kuk Temple" at Kampong Chheu Teal Institute of Technology

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, the Department of Archeology and Conservation of Sambo Prei Kuk National Authority, in collaboration with Kampong Chheu Teal Institute of Technology, organized a training program "Cultural Heritage of Sambor Prei Kuk Temple" under the chairmanship of Mr. Chan Vittharong, Director of the Department of Archeology and Conservation, and with the participation of the Deputy Director of the Kampong Chheu Teal Institute of Technology, leaders, officers and staff of the NCDD. As well as teachers, students, a total of 60 students. Two main topics, "History of Sambor Prei Kuk" and "Cultural Heritage of Sambor Prei Kuk" were presented to students and trainees throughout the training program by the leadership of the Department of Archeology and Conservation of the Sambo Prei Kuk National Authority. The training program also organized a demonstration on "conservation work of Sambor Prei Kuk" at the temple of Sambor Prei Kuk directly to the students, with a group led by officials and staff of the Department of Archeology and Conservation for convenience. In training to make it clearer and more understandable to everyone. The purpose of this training program is to train students to better understand the value of heritage as well as the conservation of the Sambor Prei Kuk temple and to integrate the concept of participating in the preservation of this World Heritage Site today and To the future.
