On the morning of Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the leaders and civil servants of Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority attended the inauguration ceremony of the Center for Technical Training for Conservation and restoration of Sambor Prei Kuk Archeologgical Site in Kampong Thom Provincial Museum under the high presidency of Her Excellency Dr. Phoeung Sakona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts and His Excellency Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia. Attending this ceremony, there are Excellencies, Lok Chumteav And Excellency Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Province, Kampong Thom Provincial Leaders, civil servants, contracted officials, students and a total of 130 guests.
The new building was built for the purpose of cooperation in research, training, restoration and preservation of artefacts obtained from research at the Sambor Prei Kuk temple site.
The Government of Japan will provide a new grant of US $ 300,000 for the Human Resource Development and Conservation Project at Sambor Prei Kuk Temple from 2023 to 2025.
In the past, the Japanese government has contributed to the conservation of Sambor Prei Kuk, as well as research and training of human resources for restoration and conservation work in this World Heritage site.
