Archaeologists from the Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority, in collaboration with relevant organizations, conducted a preventive excavation on the bypass section of the Sambor Temple Group at the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site
Experts from the Sambor Prei Kuk National Authority, in collaboration with relevant organizations, began a preventive excavation project on the bypass section of the Sambor Temple Group from the O Kru Ke Bridge to the O Achak Bridge at the Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Site, starting on December 16, 2024. Pits 4, 5, and 6 uncovered archaeological remains of some baked clay items, such as fragments of pots, jars, and earthenware, which can be tentatively assumed to be pre-Angkorean. This is a preventive excavation before the construction of the bypass section connecting O Kru Ke to O Achak, located in Sambor Village, Sambor Commune, Sambor District. This work is part of the collection of various archaeological data and analysis of the negative impacts of heritage and the environment before the construction of a concrete bypass of approximately 900 meters, which is planned to be implemented in 2025.
